Today, I went an important quest. Inspired by a random article on the 80’s, I tracked down an old music video that I had not seen in many years. I believe it’s one of my earliest memories. Though I haven’t seen it in 20 years, the deja vu was undeniable.
CNN is selling t-shirts with their asinine headlines on the front. I can’t even write about this. I wish today was April 1st so this bastardization of the news made sense.
My friend has a theory that people dislike cell phones in public areas because they’re nosy and annoyed by their inability to hear the other person. I disagree. I’m annoyed by the increased volume. Usually visual cues let the speaker know the listener can hear. The phone doesn’t provide those.
“It seems rather elitist to me for people who have degrees in this field and because they’ve studied it, somehow know better than the parents.” Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Isn’t this politics as usual? I don’t understand the continual surprise over negative campaigning. Its track record is unparalleled. DC, after all, is a town better known for its madam than its political messiahs.
But my real question is, do we even deserve a better kind of politics?
While riding the bus to work, I sat across from a mother and her 4 year old daughter. Normally, this isn’t particularly noteworthy, but the little girl hilariously shouted “Back Doors! Back Doors!” when exiting the bus. If you’ve ever ridden DC buses, you’ll understand why this is funny.
It’s a question I’ve often pondered as the election grinds on. Specifically, how much money would someone (you) accept to not vote. The obvious corollary is how much someone would accept to support the other candidate. I suspect that even ardent backers would accept relatively little to skip election day.
